Hello all! I just wanted to share more of the X Ray stained art pieces. This week, I have been experimenting a little to change things up...
This botanical was done on a long slate tile and I added a purple-toned stain. Although I like the subtle color, I prefer my basic Ebony MinWax to work with. That isn't to say I won't continue with different colors on more pieces, especially the botanicals.
A friend of mine from Hometalk asked if my technique could be done on canvas. This was something I had been planning on trying but was putting it off. After Lori posed the question, I decided to give it a try.
When I first started, I didn't think it was going to work at all...
I thought it was looking more like charcoal than x ray. And the blending was much different on canvas than on the slate tiles. I also felt as though I was missing the x ray effect. But I didn't throw in the towel...
The finished piece.
I still feel as though I lost some of the dimension on the canvas than when I used this technique on slate tile. Having said that, my sister and another firend preferred the canvas to the slate. I guess art is seen differently to all of us! :)
Back to the slate tiles and Ebony MinWax, I finished a trilogy of sea shells.

Coming soon... a tutorial on glazing for a special friend of mine. Cindy is requesting a "shabby" blue glazed finish on a mahogany end table.
